Conferences, Workshops, and Special Events

ECHORN proudly serves as a host and partner for special events that promote learning, engagement, and issues that are important to Caribbean communities.

Science, Health, and Empowerment

This first-of-its-kind event was planned by 23 partners from the Caribbean, United Kingdom, and United States and attended by more than 1,100 people. All recordings are available online for free. Select sessions were also included in COP26, the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference.

Caribbean Voices on a Global Stage

Leaders from the 2021 Climate Change and Health in Small Island Developing States conference presented their work at COP26, a global summit intended to accelerate action towards the achieving the goals set in the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Customized Research Training

The ECHORN Coordinating Center hosts learning exchange workshops for cohort study site teams and the anchor partner academic institutions. The workshops are taught by visiting faculty and feature a topic area chosen by the host site. Previous workshops have focused on statistical thinking, social network analysis, community needs assessments, and research principles. Workshops are open to faculty, graduate students, fellows, and research professionals.

Collaborative Research Conferences

ECHORN Symposia are multi-day conferences that create opportunities for cross-island networking and collaboration. Network members are invited to attend conference sessions and activities that strengthen their skills and knowledge in research methods and strategies. The ECHORN Coordinating Center rotates symposium locations across island sites.
