On Saturday, May 24, 2014, ECHORN:USVI joined others at the health fair held by the Health Ministry of the St. Thomas Assembly of God in St. Thomas, USVI. The purpose of the fair was to educate the community on healthy behaviors and increase awareness of the importance of health screenings. Among the services provided at the fair were HIV testing and counseling, glucose, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks and even massages. These efforts are part of ECHORN’s larger mission to increase public awareness of the burden of noncommunicable diseases and to identify risk factors for these diseases in the Eastern Caribbean. The group picture below features ECHORN:USVI principal investigator Dr. Maxine Nunez, project manager Ms. Gwen Creque and other groups who manned tables at the event.
